If something you want to know is not here, email hello@mypocketpilot.io and it probably should be.
Getting in
Can I use PocketPilot yet?
Not without an invitation. PocketPilot is in development and the closed beta runs in small groups, UK households first, so that support stays personal and problems get fixed properly. Joining the waitlist is how you get an invitation.
How long is the wait?
We are not going to invent a number. Invitations go out in stages as the product is ready for more people, and the size of each group depends on how the previous one went. You keep your place if you ignore an invitation when it arrives.
Is it only for the UK?
For now, yes. PocketPilot works in sterling, follows UK data protection law, and is being tested against UK bank statement exports and UK till receipts. Getting one country right first is the plan.
What does the beta cost?
Nothing. No card is asked for and none is held, which means the beta cannot quietly start billing you. What it will cost later is not settled yet, and we are not publishing a figure until it is.
Using it
Does it connect to my bank?
Not at launch. You bring transactions in by importing a CSV statement, which every UK bank can export. Live bank sync is planned, but it depends on an approved UK Open Banking provider, and until that is actually in place we will not describe it as something you can use.
There is an upside to this. PocketPilot never asks for a banking login, never holds one, and cannot reach your bank at all.
Do I have to photograph every receipt?
No, and most people will not want to. The budget and the imported transactions work perfectly well on their own. Receipts add the line-item detail and the price history, so photograph the shops where that detail earns its keep (the weekly food shop, usually) and skip the coffee.
How accurate is the receipt reading?
Good on a flat, well-lit receipt from a common retailer. Worse on a faded, crumpled thermal receipt from a small shop. That is true of every system that does this, and anything claiming perfect accuracy is either lucky or lying.
What matters is what happens when it is unsure: PocketPilot marks the value as uncertain and leaves it editable. It will not substitute a plausible number for one it could not read.
Can my partner use it with me?
A second adult in the household is planned as part of the paid tier. The free tier is one adult seat. We would rather tell you that now than have you find out when you try to invite someone.
Can I get my data out?
Yes, in a standard format, on any tier, whenever you want. There is no lock-in and asking for it is not meant to be a support conversation.
Trust
Do you sell my data?
No. We do not sell customer data and we do not use it for advertising. A small number of infrastructure providers process it in order to run the service, under contracts that limit them to doing exactly that. The security page goes through it properly.
Do retailers pay to appear in the price comparison?
No. PocketPilot has no affiliate, commission or referral relationships, so nothing in the comparison is paid placement. The prices shown are what you were charged, taken from your own receipts. Not advertised rates, and not a licensed catalogue.
Can PocketPilot move my money?
No. It has no payment capability whatsoever: not disabled, not restricted, simply never built. PocketPilot is not a bank, and nothing in it is lending, credit, investment or tax advice.
This site did not ask me to accept cookies. Why not?
Because it does not set any, and loads no analytics and no third-party scripts or fonts. There is nothing to ask you about. If that ever changes, the banner appears, and so does a note here explaining what changed.
How do I get my waitlist entry deleted?
Email hello@mypocketpilot.io and ask. You do not need to give a reason. The waitlist privacy notice sets out exactly what is held and for how long.
